Happy Campers Pt. 2

When we last left off we had just crashed (quite literally) on the beach. It took a little while but once everyone had recovered from the exhaustion caused by our earlier 'hard' work and (mostly) the blazing heat we hopped into the ocean waves and played around. Unfortunately my camera really doesn't like water so no pictures of that.

Camping at the sea means days full of two of my favourite things in the world: a beach and a barbecue. Of course the boys took full charge of the actual cooking so us girls could fully concentrate on enjoying the food and catching up. How very thoughtful of them.

And since it's still S' birthday we of course dined in style.

Then the big moment had finally arrived. We were ready to dig in.

Even our chef approved. And he ought to know best!

A very happy camper indeed.

We spent the rest of the evening on the beach having late night snacks and drinks around a 'bonfire' of candles. We laughed, chatted and laughed some more before we eventually admitted defeat and made our way back to our tents yawning along the way.

Now Rerik isn't a large tourist destination in comparison to some of the other towns on the coastline. Thus the nature has largely remained on touch and everything has a very simple yet fascinating touch. Our final day was spent entirely on the beach and I finally had enough time to take a picture or two or three...

We brought a little beach tent to escape the sun. It was a little small for four girls but we squeezed together until everyone found a spot with enough shade.

Somewhere around noon there was a short entertainment break with artistic grace equal to the best of circus performances. First the audience got in place to secure the best view.

And than were completely amazed by K's gymnast side.

I watched from the sidelines (or the shoreline to be exact) and was thoroughly impressed.

K made her way out of the water while receiving standing ovations from all of us.

Only to jump right back in and challenge the waves to an old-fashioned duel. Spoiler alert: the jury unanimously declared her the winner.

Final verdict: three days, eight graduates, tons of laughter make for an amazing summer vacation. Plans are already being made for next year.
